Today, Monday 26 October 2026, is a useful moment for families planning weddings and engagements. Gold fell 4.1% last week and is now steady around $4,000 an ounce, which brings jewellery prices down slightly from last week’s levels.
At the same time, the dinar is weaker. The official rate is 1,500 dinars per dollar since 7 October, and Baghdad’s market closed Saturday at 168,750 dinars per $100. This means dinar prices of gold have not fallen as much as the dollar price.
For Tag Al-Rein customers, the smart approach is to plan the set by weight and budget, not by look alone.
Example: An illustrative 50 g 21K bridal set (necklace, earrings, bangle and ring) has a gold value of about $5,625 today. At Baghdad’s market rate, that is about 9.5 million dinars before making charges. Choosing a 40 g set instead saves about 1.9 million dinars in gold value.
Our advice: Agree a total budget first, then choose designs that fit. Buy key pieces now and smaller gifts closer to the date.
The honest caution: Prices may rise or fall before the wedding day. Do not take loans for wedding gold, and keep receipts for every piece.
