Planning a wedding or a special gift? Here is the gold picture for Friday, 30 October 2026.
The key news: Gold prices dipped this week. The world price is near $4,000 an ounce after Thursday’s fall, as strong US economic data raised the chance of a US interest rate rise in December. In Iraq, the dollar is trading at about 168,000 dinars per $100 on Baghdad’s market. The official rate has been 1,500 dinars since early October.
What it means for wedding families: A small dip helps, but the dinar’s weakness means gold still costs more in dinars than it did a few months ago. A clear budget matters more than ever.
Example (dinar rate used: Baghdad market, 168,000 per $100): A 30-gram 21K bridal set holds about $3,490 of gold, or about 5.87 million dinars, before workmanship. A 5-gram 21K ring as a gift is about 978,000 dinars.
Advice for customers: Set the total budget first, then choose the weight. Ask for the workmanship fee in writing, and compare a lighter set with matching pieces added later.
The honest caution: Prices may rise again before the wedding date. Buy within your means, never borrow for wedding gold, and do not rely on gold to “always go up.”
