Tag Al-Rein presents its weddings and gifts brief for Friday, 16 October 2026.

The key news: In Baghdad on 15 October, Iraqi 21K gold sold at 940,000 dinars per mithqal and Gulf, Turkish and European 21K at 970,000. Prices eased slightly from the day before. The dollar traded at 166,500 dinars per $100 on the main exchanges.

What it means for wedding buyers: Both are 21K, but Gulf and imported pieces usually cost more per mithqal because of design, finish and demand. Iraqi 21K can give the same weight of gold for a lower price.

Example: A 5-mithqal (25 g) wedding bracelet in Iraqi 21K costs about 4,700,000 dinars in metal (about $2,823 at 166,500 dinars per $100). In Gulf 21K it costs about 4,850,000 dinars — 150,000 dinars more, before workmanship.

Advice for families: Set your total budget first, including workmanship. Choose where you want the “wow” piece and save on the rest. Ask the shop for the weight and karat on every receipt.

The honest caution: Prices change every day. Buy within your budget — never borrow money to buy wedding gold.
